Isle of Thanet Symphony Orchestra

The Isle of Thanet Symphony Orchestra was a professional orchestra that gave regular concerts in Margate and Broadstairs in the early to mid-1980s. It was conducted by Ray Banning and led by Maurice Memmott, and often featured top soloists such as Clarence Myerscough. The orchestra eventually disbanded as funding from Thanet District Council and other sources dried up. The successor in terms of a classical symphony orchestra for the area is the Bradstow Symphony Orchestra, inaugurated 2019.
